No Galaxy Tab on Sale in Australia Despite Lifted Ban?
The Australian court overturned their decision about the Samsung's highly-anticipated Galaxy Tab but the device is still a no-show on the stores.
Yes, the tablet of the Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (SEO:005930) will not be available in Australia yet despite lifting of the ban that gave a go signal on the sale of the device. According to the Samsung executive, it is impossible to sell the device as the lifting of the ban will be effective until 4pm last Friday.
According to a high ranking executive from the South Korean company, the gadget is not hitting the shelves sooner as it is not allowed to ship the tablet into the country until after the deadline. However, the company assured that it is exerting all efforts to get the gadget on shelves as quickly as possible and will soon make announcements on the pricing and the availability of the device.
Many retailers expressed their commitment and loyalty to the Samsung's Galaxy tab 10.1 after the new court decision was released.
Samsung Australia vice president of telecommunications Tyler McGee said, "The way you can get product from one part of the world to another ... [there isn't] a huge issue on where it is from [from] the perspective of sending it to be on sale. We can obviously move fairly quickly once we see what we can or cannot do."
The Federal Court reversed its decision last Nov. 30 on its previous ruling in Apple's favor on the patent infringement case that blocked the Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia. However, Samsung's rival company got an extension for the ban of another two days to allow Apple to prepare a High Court appeal with regards to a patent infringement case.
According to Tyler McGee, Samsung is now waiting for the next move of Apple as it will bring the case to the High Court and hoped that the company will prevail.
A lot of Aussies demanded Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the company is more than willing to give this to the consumers. Almost 11,000 out of 15,000 voted on the poll by Fairfax saying that they will buy the Galaxy Tab when it hit the market. When the ban is totally lifted, Samsung will be able to sell the device to Australians.
