No More iPad Pre-Order Stock in Australia; Shipping to Arrive on March 19
Supply of iPad 3's pre-order stock in Australia has already sold out. Shipping of pre-orders to arrive on March 19.
As expected, Apple, Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) already sold out supplies of the new iPad 3 after a huge surge of pre-orders from consumers who wanted to get their hands on the device.
In a statement, Apple said that the supplies meant for pre-orders were no longer available, which includes Australia. The only way for consumers to purchase the new device is to wait on the long line outside the Apple stores or through Apple's authorized dealers when the device will hit the Australian shores on Friday, March 16. However, the Australian website of Apple said that shipping for new batch of the device will be on March 22.
The pre-orders of the new iPad 3 will arrive on March 19, which is three days after the official launch date. Apple said earlier that pre-orders will be shipped on the same day as the release date. However, the minor delay on the shipping may be due to the strong demand for the new product of Apple.
The spokesperson of the Cupertino-based company said that the response for Apple's new device is overwhelming and "off the charts." However, Apple have not released official and specific figures yet of the number of pre-orders sold. The iPad 3 received positive reviews from business partners, critics and consumers.
The iPad 3 was released last March 7 in San Francisco, California. The new iOS device features a screen size of 9.7-inch screen, which doubles the resolution (2048x1536) to a high-definition "Retina" display. Moreover, the new iPad sports a more powerful processor compared to its predecessor and of iPhone 4S' with its new 1.5GHz dual-core A5X chip with quad-core graphics processing. This will enable the device to use more demanding apps, software and games.
The new iPad has 5-megapixel rear camera inferior of the iPhone 4S'. However, Apple added a backlit sensor and hybrid infrared filter for better colour reproduction. The voice dictation for hands-free use of the device will be able to recognise Australian accent.
The prime selling point of the device is its 4G capabilities that is faster than current mobile network. Unfortunately, this is found incompatible with Telstra's 4G as it uses a different frequency compared to the 4G networks based in the United States.
Analysts predict that Apple will sell nine million of units of the new iPad in this quarter.
