The Nokia Lumia 928 is probably one of those much-anticipated but still phantom phones today. Even with news of a potential reveal and/or release next month, the deal between supposed carrier Verizon and Nokia and even the actual device have not yet been revealed to the public.

TechCrunch recently reported that two knowledgeable sources have already confirmed the dea-l-perhaps it only really needs to be publicized,

This doesn't stop people from continuing with the rumor mill. The latest reports include an edge-to-edge display for the device, apart from previous speculations of the Nokia Lumia 928 being lighter and thinner than its predecessor, the Lumia 920.

According to iTechPost, the source, a Reddit member who supposedly came in contact with the actual device, had posted that the personnel who was in a store he was in had revealed the actual device to him, after a promise that he will not take photos or chase after the serial number.

Whether the source is true (though it is a wonder why they would provide employees with a still unannounced phone may be a bit of a stretch) can't be confirmed, but with speculations of a May reveal, it won't really be a long wait.

And according to a WM Power User report, it won't really be much of a wait, since a more specific date was given, May 9, for the launch, though Verizon may move this due to internal decisions.

But more details, such as the 5.24 x 2.71 x 0.44 inch dimension, the digital amplifier in speakers, and the Xenon flash and LED for pictures and video respectively, have also surfaced.

Accessories now online

Aside from the rumors, accessory makers are also one step ahead of the actual device as more accessories turn up online.

The latest of these accessories is the Luxmo protector case that will be made available for as low as $1.19. A clear protector is also made available, but they are more expensive at $12.99.

Phones Review also reports that with the appearance of these third-party accessories, chances are the actual device will be on the way. And considering the number of these accessories to have surfaced, it really may not be that long.

Nokia 105 vs. iPhone: A battle of prices

Moving from the high-end Nokia Lumia 928, the company is also doing battle with the bigger name Apple as it struggles to gain momentum in the smartphone segment. Because of this, Nokia has decided to take the battle to another level, by offering a $20 phone that is slated to compete against the iPhone.

With the Nokia Asha 210 not doing as well in terms of the QWERTY keyboard, what with BlackBerry Q10's pleasantly surprising comeback revamp, Nokia may be pushing a different direction, this time marketing the Nokia 105 as its cheapest phones ever, slated for release in India, Indonesia, and Europe.

"Falling sales of simpler phones are 'definitely worrisome,'" said Mika Heikkinen, fund manager at FIM Asset Management, to Bloomberg. "[Nokia] has to get this under control."

But it seems that apart from the smartphone industry, Nokia has a different niche that they can target. Newsday reports that Nokia only sold 10% in terms of smartphones of its 336 million handsets last year. It's understandable that its cheaper handsets, like the Nokia 105, may be the last resort to push it through the difficult times and bring it back to the arena with the big ones.

"The low-end, high-volume part of the mobile-phone market is a huge opportunity for Nokia in developing countries," said Francisco Jeronimo, analyst at IDC, to Newsday. "These users will be likely to upgrade to more expensive phones over time, so it's a good strategy to keep a high market share in this segment.

Of course, there is still the Nokia Lumia 928 to wait for.
