Nokia Lumia 2520 is Here: How Does the First Nokia Tablet Fare with iPad Air?
Nokia's tablet, Lumia 2520, finally makes an appearance. After a few months of reports and leaks, Nokia finally unveiled its first Windows tablet. True to its name, the Lumia tablet appears like a bigger version of Nokia's identically named Windows phone. Can the new slate compete with the likes of iPad Air?
Nokia chose a 10.1-inch display for its Lumia 2520 slate. The body follows a similar design found on the Lumia Windows phone. The slate adopts the design language and specs most users can identify with Nokia. Translate all the specs into a slate form - you have the Nokia Lumia 2520.
The device features 1,920 x 1,080 screen resolution for the display. According to several sources, it is one of the best screen resolution and display on the market. The slate offers impressive brightness and excellent viewing angles. More importantly, the device features an accurate color reproduction.
It is evident that Nokia wanted to make an impression with this product.
Nonetheless, some sources remain worried about the performance of the device running on Windows RT. Based on Microsoft's initial try with Windows RT, a multitude of problems plagued devices running the OS. But the Surface 2 gained back some of the lost glory, and it seems Nokia's slate can also deliver success.
The device appears responsive and great with apps and multi-tasking. Some reports go as far as saying Nokia Lumia 2520 is as excellent as Surface 2 in terms of performance and programs. As the device runs on Windows RT, users can access the desktop Office apps where Nokia's keyboard will be of much use.
The Power Keyboard of the Nokia Lumia 2520 includes a Surface-like trackpad and keyboard. Other features are up to 11 hours of battery life and two USB ports. Battery life can reach up to 16 hours if cover is attached.
