Nokia Lumia 720 Tips and Tricks: Import Contacts from Other Devices, Extend Battery Life and More
Nokia Lumia 720 was announced in the Mobile World Congress 2013 at Barcelona, Spain and labeled as a mid-range handset designed to offer high-end experience. If features a 4.3-inch display screen, powered by 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, and has a battery life of up to 79 hours of music playback. Here are tips and tricks you should know to efficiently use the Nokia Lumia 720.
1. Hard Reset Function
In case the device lags and does not respond anymore, you can use the Force Reset to refresh the phone.
a. Soft Reset: Use the hard key combination to perform a soft reset. Press and hold the Power Key until it vibrates. Press and hold down the Volume key and wait for an exclamation mark to appear then follow these combination - Volume Up > Volume Down > Power > Volume Down. The device will reboot automatically. Soft Reset will erase all data files inside.
b. Hard Reset: Remove the battery and reinsert it. This reset won't erase any data files and best used for frozen Lumia devices.
2. Importing contacts from iPhone, Samsung, HTC, or Nokia
You are going to use your computer to transfer contacts to your Nokia Lumia 720 from other devices. The computer must have an Internet connection and USB cable for the respective phones.
- Connect the Lumia 720 and install the PC Companion Program. You can also use it to update the phone's software.
- After the installation, launch the PC Companion on your computer
- Click the "Contacts Setup" and follow the instructions on how to transfer your contacts.
3. Extending Battery Life
Battery Life is affected by several factors and usage. To extend the battery life of your Lumia 720, follow these tips:
a. Lessen the screen brightness and the screen timeout. From the Home Screen, go to Settings > Battery Saver. Change the battery saving settings by clicking Advanced.
b. Minimise the overall volume of notifications.
c. Close any apps when not in use.
d. Switch off any network connection such Wi-Fi or mobile data to save more battery.
e. Update your phone's software to get bug fixes and improvements.
4. Taking Screenshots
Press the Power and the Start keys at the same time. To view the screenshots, tap Photos > Albums > Screen Shots.
5. Scanning QR Codes
Nokia Lumia 720 can scan QR codes, barcodes, and DVD covers to give you more information about the item.
Tap the Search icon > tap on the eye icon > place the camera in front of the code. Make sure that the code is completely visible to have a successful scanning.
