Previous reports claimed that Nokia has plans of creating a new phablet device to become a contender in the tough market competition. There are leaked specs that recently surfaced online revealing about the Finnish company's work on an upcoming Nokia Lumia 825 quad-core Windows Phone 8 phablet.

The new leaked detail suggests that the Nokia Lumia 825 will be the first quad-core Windows Phone 8 device but the inner components may only be categorized as mid-range. Chinese Web site Dopsy.com revealed that the quad-core processor to be incorporated in the Nokia Lumia 825 phablet will be Qualcomm's 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 with an Adreno 305 GPU.

Additionally, the leaked specs pointed out the Nokia phablet's screen size of 5.2 inches making it the biggest device yet in the Nokia Lumia Windows Phone 8 range. The screen display, still unclear if it is OLED or LCD, will reportedly have a Regular HD setup with 1280x720p resolution.

Details on the Nokia Lumia 825 pricing and launch date are still premature but Knowyourmobile.com reports a mid-range price point approximately £300 (US$469) SIM free will arrive close to the upcoming Windows Phone 8 GDR3 update before 2013 ends. Another unveiling speculation is set on the October launch for a new Nokia device, possibly the Nokia Lumia 825.

Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 GDR3 update is anticipated to offer support for quad-core processors and Full HD 1080 displays. However, no precise date of its roll out has been confirmed yet.

The collaborative work of Nokia and Microsoft on the new Windows Phone phablet device could grant both companies success in the market where rival iOS and Android devices dominate like the Samsung Galaxy Note range. HTC, another rival device maker, is currently rumoured to be working on their phablet HTC One Max as the company also embraces the phablet device range.
