Nokia has confirmed the availability of the Nokia Lumia 925 smartphone in Australia. The release dates for the Windows Phone 8 handsets on Telstra and Optus were officially revealed along with other selected retailers beginning this July.

Optus will be offering plans for the Nokia Lumia 925 on July 22 with shipping to customers on August 1 while Telstra is scheduled on July 30. The two telecommunications company did not give any details on the plan and pricing but Nokia declared that the outright price of the Lumia 925 is $699.

Nokia's other confirmed retailer list includes Harvey Norman, Dick Smith, Network Communications, Allphones, JB Hi-Fi, Leading Edge and Fone Zone. Nokia will put up for sale the Nokia Lumia 925 through the confirmed retailers on July 17 with the outright pricing scheme.

"The Lumia 925 is undoubtedly Nokia's best smartphone yet and we're hugely encouraged by the interest in this device from our partners and consumers. I believe that Nokia has reinforced its reputation as a major player in smartphone imaging, design and mapping and the Lumia 925 exemplifies the developments Nokia has made in these areas," Steve Lewis, the managing director of Nokia Australia, stated.

The Nokia Lumia 925 has similar features and specs found on its much criticized predecessor, the Nokia Lumia 920, but the latest Finnish handset now has a thinner and lighter aluminum design. It sports a 4.5-inch screen display with 1280x768p resolution, 1.5GHz Snapdragon processor, 8.7MP PureView camera and wireless charging feature provided with the wireless charging cover that can be clipped to the back of the smartphone.

Other modifications done on the Nokia Lumia 925 are the screen display being OLED instead of the IPS LCD and the internal storage capacity reduced from 32GB to 16GB without a microSD card slot for memory storage expansion. However, Nokia Lumia 925 is the first smartphone to come pre-installed with the Smart Camera app.

The new Smart Camera app allows the Nokia Lumia 925 users to swiftly capture 10 images in sequence with just one click. It includes as well the "Best Shot" function where the sharpest image captured will be automatically detected and the "Action Shot" feature that emphasizes motion as it brings together every image captured.
