Nokia Will Release a Windows 8 Tablet in September Challenges Google Nexus 7 and iPad Mini
Nokia will release a new Windows 8 tablet in September, according to reports. The company has scheduled for an event running from the 26th to the 27th of September. Many believe that the affair will be the company's venue to announce and introduce their new devices including a new tablet computer.
It is all about the tablet these days. Recent sales reports show that tablets are as hot selling as smartphones. This is the same reason tech manufacturers are also so eager to put out their tablets offerings out there. However, not all companies wanting a piece of the tablet pie succeeded.
Microsoft is a good example of an attempt that is failing miserably. The company keeps on slashing their Surface Pro price to attract customers. The device did not compete well with other offerings on the market, it has become increasingly difficult for the tech giant to push their portable device product.
Nokia still needs to make an announcement on whether they will really be continuing with this much rumored release. Previously, according to Tablet Crunch, Nokia's Executive Vice President of Smart Devices expressed the company's interest over developing products for this niche.
Amidst the heightened and increasing speculations, there were also pictures of the Nokia tablet that surfaced. The device appears to run on Windows RT. It looks as the Lumia smartphone just got bigger. There were no confirmations whether the device was a discontinued prototype or it was a new a prototype for unit hitting the market soon.
Despite two sides opposing whether Nokia will really release a product or not, analysts cite the following reasons why they strongly believe that the release will be just around the corner:
- Nokia follows quarter schedules with their product releases. This means the company usually announces a major device per quarter. So far, Nokia already revealed the 1020 and Lumia 925 smartphones. It is possible their next big release will be a tablet - something new from all of their other releases.
The September event schedule will be in New York. This can only mean the company is gearing up for an important announcement or series of announcements.
- The GFXBecnh website has also released details about a mysterious Nokia RX-114 benchmark test. This now coincides with rumors that it can be a new tablet. The specs also support this idea. These include 1,372 x 771 resolution which can be compared to Microsoft Surface Pro tablet's full HD 10.6.
The report also highlighted a quadcore processor including Qualcomm Adreno 330 GPU. No information yet on the RAM. Nokia appears intent on keeping mum until their September event.
If Nokia pushes through with their September announcement, then the company will be joining Amazon and Apple for their Kindle and iPad announcements. This can mean a stiffer competition and interesting market.
