Nokia has introduced their Android-based smartphone line-up at the 2014 Mobile World Congress (MWC) and the device enthusiasts can find some useful features and apps on the Nokia X. The latest reports on the Finnish device reveal the details on its security features and the available apps for download like WhatsApp and Instagram.

As maintained in the Nokia Conversations blog, the Nokia X Android smartphone has the required security features that can protect the user's data stored on the device without the need of downloading third-party security apps. "There's no doubt that having security features in a smartphone come in handy, and can save your personal and work-related data. It is always a wise precaution to enable the security features in your smartphone, rather than risk losing all the data stored on the device," the NDTV Gadgets report noted down.

There are three major ways in protecting the data stored in the Nokia X smartphone and they are screen security, encryption, and SIM card lock. The Nokia X screen security feature has the password and PIN options where users can choose a combination of numbers and letters, or even both for locking the screen with the password option while the PIN option will allow users to choose their four-digit numerical code.

The stored data on the Nokia X, such as messages, accounts, images and videos, protected by encryption can only be accessed with authorized parties. To decrypt the data, the users can do the process by means of factory data reset.

The SIM card lock security feature is one of the simplest methods found on majority of Nokia handsets. Choosing the SIM card lock option at the security settings of the Nokia X will prevent the access to the stored contacts listed on the SIM card once the security feature has been turned on.

In the IBN Live report, the popular apps WhatsApp and Instagram are currently available for download on the Nokia X Android smartphone. To have the fully functional WhatsApp version, users can get the app from the third-party stores like 1Mobile Market or APTOiDE that are both accessible straight from the new Finnish device.

After the download is complete, users will be given a prompt that will take them to the security settings. Tap on the button to allow downloads from unknown sources but users need not to worry because they can go back and reset afterwards.

As for Instagram on the Nokia X, users can just tap on the search icon on the 1Mobile Market and the app will be available on the list of top apps to download. Instagram can then be downloaded and users must confirm that they want the app to be put in from the source then launch and start using the smartphone app.
