Nokia X Sold Out in China Four Minutes After Online Release

Offering an Android smartphone for the first time turned out to be a positive move for Nokia with its newest product Nokia X emptying racks four minutes after its online launch.

JD.com, an e-commerce Web site claimed that Nokia X sold out immediately four minutes after it opened online reservations for the Chinese market. Though there are no surfacing details on how many units of the Android phone the store have, clearing out its Nokia X stock like a whirlwind is noteworthy considering the public's acceptance of the brand's new model. JD.com reportedly kicked off Nokia X at 10 AM on March 24.

Huge demand in the Chinese market.

The demand influx for the phone can be a confirmation of previous reports citing that Nokia X scored 1 million pre-orders in the country. As of this writing, the JD.com Web site states that it will resume offering the phone starting March 31, and will only cater customers who have "qualified for the original appointment." Interestingly, the online store did not ask for upfront payment from people who signed up to purchase Nokia X first-hand. It makes sense that the handset was offered not as pre-order, rather for reservations.

The Nokia X comes with ¥599.00 price tag in China.

Nokia is widely known for offering Windows smartphones, but the brand is proving to meet the demands of users in their particular market. The primary benefit of the creation of the handset, is that Nokia will be able to infiltrate the users who prefer Android as an operating system.

Nokia X is no doubt a decent smartphone, receiving positive review from TechCrunch with the Web site headlining that Nokia "does low-Cost android surprisingly well." The highlighted feature of the Smartphone include a 4-inch, 480 x 800 display, 3 megapixel rear camera, 512MB RAM, 4GB on board storage, and Up to 32GB expandable storage via micro SD. Nokia X runs with Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core 1GHz processor and Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.

Smartphone for emerging markets.

With a price tag of $US125, Nokia X is an affordable version of Nokia's newest products. However, since it is designed to be offered for the emerging markets, there is a bleak possibility that it will reach the US and UK stores. There is no indication that Nokia X will be available for the Australian market since there are no traces of the model in the Nokia's AU Web site's product list.
