Nokia X2 Launch Date: Slated for June 24; Specifications and Features Listed
The Nokia X2, one of the most awaited budget segment Android smartphones from Microsoft, will be launched on June 24, 2014. Nokia's Twitter account confirmed this news with a link to the company's Conversations blog account that says "summer brings out our inner glow...stay tuned to Conversations to find out what we've got in store."
It is worth noting that the blog also has a countdown timer that is counting to June 24, 2014. The Nokia X series of smartphones run on a forked version of Android OS with Nokia X platform 1.2 UI. This upcoming smartphone is expected to feature a 4.3 inches display with 480 x 800 pixels screen resolution, a 5 megapixel primary camera and a VGA shooter as the secondary camera. The Nokia X2 is powered by a dual-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 200) processor clocked at 1.2 GHz and it houses 1 GB of RAM.
According to The Verge, the RAM specification on this phone could be more than the expected 1 GB, in order to enhance the overall phone performance. The Nokia X2 is expected to come with a 4 GB of internal storage capacity with microSD card slot for expansion up to 32 GB. The handset will come in bright green, bright red, cyan, yellow, black, and white shades. In addition, this phone will house an optional dual-sim mode.
If reports are true, the upcoming Nokia X2 would feature a dedicated home button. The user complaints and feedback pertaining to not housing the home button in the Nokia X smartphone, has made the Nokia team under Microsoft Mobile to introduce the home button back in X2. Interestingly, Nokia X comes with only a back button and many users never realized that a long press on the back button would take them back to the home screen.
The Nokia X series of phones' forked Android OS does not come packed with Google services. Alternatively, the phone provides Outlook in place of Gmail, Bing search in place of Google search, Nokia Maps in place of Google Maps, to name a few. In addition, Nokia also has its own app store.
