Nokia X2, Microsoft's next-generation Android smartphone has recently been released in June, while the Motorola Moto E was launched in May 2014. Both the handsets are budget-friendly and they pack amazing features, and great hardware and software performances. Display, Exterior and Size

Both Nokia X2 and Moto E feature 4.3 inches display, but the difference comes in the form of screen resolution. While the latest Nokia X2 comes with 480 x 800 pixels, the Moto E's screen resolution stands at 540 x 960 pixels. The pixel density of Nokia X2 and Moto E are 217 ppi and 256 ppi respectively. Hence, Moto E has a slight advantage over the Nokia X2 when it comes to display.

The Moto E is extremely sturdy and comfortable on the hands. The rubber-like back panel provides good grip and the handset has a premium look. The latest Nokia X2, meanwhile, features an improved display with the introduction of Nokia's ClearBlack polarization technology. ClearBlack technology makes the outdoor viewing experience slightly better. As Anand Tech puts it, "It can make a mediocre display look OK, and a good display look great, at least in my experience." Also, the Nokia X2's exterior is similar to the predecessor Nokia X but the latest handset integrates a new translucent outer layer, which makes the exterior look glossy.

It is worth noting that, the Moto E comes with a peculiar waterproof coating. Even though, this coating cannot be compared to the IP67 certified (water resistant) Samsung Galaxy S5, the phone is water repellent and splash proof.

The thickness and the weight of Nokia X2 are 0.44 inches and 150 g respectively, whereas the Moto E is 0.48 inches thick and weighs 142 g.

Hardware and Software

Interestingly, both the phones are powered by dual-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 200) Cortex-A7 processor, clocked at 1.2 GHz and 1 GB of RAM. While the Nokia X2 runs on Nokia X platform 2.0 UI on top of Google's Android OS v4.3 Jelly Bean, the Moto E runs on Android OS v4.4.2 KitKat (upgradable to higher versions).

Camera, Memory and Battery

Both the phones sport 5 MP rear-facing cameras; while the Nokia X2 features a VGA shooter in the front, the Moto E does not have a front-facing camera unit at all. In addition, Nokia X2 features LED flash, while the Moto E doesn't. When it comes to memory specification, both the phones come with 4 GB of internal storage with microSD card support for expansion up to 32 GB. Also, the Nokia X2 houses a Li-Ion 1800 mAh user-replaceable battery unit, while the Moto E houses a Li-Ion 1980 mAh non-removable battery unit.

Connectivity and SIM

Both the phones support Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and Wi-Fi hotspot. In addition, both the phones support dual-sim mode and micro-sim type.

Colour

The Nokia X2 comes in glossy green, orange black, yellow, white, and matt dark grey. The Moto E, meanwhile, comes with a black/white front panel; however there are seven different colour choices for the back panel.

The Nokia X2 (Dual-Sim) is priced at US$135 that roughly translates to AU$143, while the Moto E (Dual-Sim) can be purchased at AU$177 in Australia. However, the information on Nokia X2's release date in Australia is not available at this point in time.
