Google Nexus tablet is back; HTC is the device manufacturer this time for the soon-to-be-unveiled Google Nexus 9. An unnamed Portuguese source has provided some information on the upcoming Nexus device. According to the source, the production is ongoing in HTC's manufacturing unit in Brazil.

Furthermore, according to Phone Arena's report, the HTC Nexus 9 tablet will be launched in a special event on Oct. 8. If reports are true, the superior Tegra K1-powered tablet will feature a 16 MP tube-shaped water-resistant camera and a unique wireless connectivity option that will allow the user to control the camera via a mobile app. The mobile camera feature is said to target GoPro fans. For those unfamiliar with GoPro, it is an American company that specialises in manufacturing high-definition cameras that can shoot "extreme action" video photography.

Since HTC is the manufacturer of Nexus 9, one can expect a sleek design for the upcoming tablet. According to reports, the tablet will come with a zero-gap aluminium construction in the likes of Apple iPad Mini with Retina display. This provides a different look from the matte-effect-laden Nexus tablets released in the past.

The latest Portuguese source corroborates the already rumoured specifications of the killer handset. Reportedly, the HTC device will feature a 9-inch display with 1080p screen resolution, and the tablet will be powered by a killer NVIDIA Tegra K1 (64-bit) processor. It is worth noting that the Tegra K1 processor has beaten other processors including Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 SoC in various benchmark testing results.

Moreover, the device will include 3 GB RAM in contrast to the rumoured 4 GB of RAM. The device is also expected to run on Google's latest Android L (v5.0) OS. In addition, the tablet will come with 16 GB of internal storage capacity and microSD card slot for expansion up to 128 GB. It is worth noting that earlier rumours said a 32 GB variant will be available. It remains to be seen though if the 32 GB model will be realized.

As far as the cost goes, Tech2 said that the HTC Nexus 9 tablet will be available at a starting price of $399 for the 16 GB variant and $499 for the 32 GB model. On the other hand, the LTE-based model will be priced above $600.
