Office Apps For iPads Now Supports Monthly Subscription
Consumers used to purchase the subscription to Office 365 Home yearly within the apps for $99.99. Latest reports suggest that consumers can now subscribe monthly for Office 365 Personal and Office 365 Home through in-app purchase, according to Office blogs.
As Microsoft continues to push its vision bringing Microsoft Office to all platforms and devices, support for monthly subscription is one of its ways to make it easy for its consumers to have access to the MS Office tools.
Office 365 subscription in the Office apps for iPads can now be purchased for the convenience of users that downloaded the apps and wants to sign up for the service but do not have Office 365 subscription. One of the reasons why Office took time to be available in the App Store is because Apple intends to get a 30% cut on the sales and due to this, Microsoft did not include the option. Nonetheless, the in-app purchase is now available, according to Neowin.
The Office 365 Personal costs $6.99 per month. Users can access, create, edit and review documents in just one device. I can provide up to 1TB of free storage. The Office 365 Home costs $9.99 a month. Users can do the same features in more devices to share the benefits and 60 minutes of free worldwide calling from skype is offered as well.
Microsoft shows the flexibility that monthly subscriptions can provide, but users that have monthly subscription can always opt to change to annual subscription from within the apps or through iTunes.
Neowin notes that users will end up paying more on these since there are cheaper options available. Amazon is reported to be able to provide personal Office subscription for almost half the price of the in-app price. But in some cases the in-app monthly subscription could still make sense. Even though it is more expensive the flexibility can still attract some consumers.
