Microsoft has launched the Office Remote for Android, a new app that will allow users to control their Excel, Word or PowerPoint files on their Bluetooth enabled PC from an Android smart phone. The free app allows users to quickly access features of Office 2013 from their palm, as per reports.

As per a report on PC World, the PowerPoint remote feature in the Office Remote enables users to control their presentation, view their slide notes and laser point at objects onscreen from the app. Besides that, with the Office Remote users can quickly access to select various features of Power Point and Word.

With the Office Remote, users can move virtual laser pointer on their computer at their finger tip and it also allows users’ to manipulate Excel tables, switch to Word for sharing their insights and read notes related to their PowerPoint slides, as per a report on Android Police.

The Office Remote for Android app runs on Android 4.0.3 or later and can be downloaded for free from Google Play. It is still unknown if Office Remote is coming to iOS as well, reports PC World. The Office Remote gives an option to navigate between Excel and Word documents using a swipe motion. Users can switch between different word documents by just tapping, reports India Today.

The Office Remote, which is a Microsoft Research application, has been developed in partnership with Microsoft Office. Microsoft aims bringing in seamless interaction across multiple devices to enable effective communication, Microsoft mentions in its official web page.

With the Office Remote users can turn their Android based phones to a command center to present their power point, excel or word documents, reports Android Police. The Microsoft Office Program that will be connected via Bluetooth will respond to the user’s action on the Android app, as per the Android Police report.

Microsoft is in no plans to get into platform wars which would affect their other software and the recent release of Office related Android befits this decision of Microsoft. The Office Remote for Android is available at Play Store and there are no restrictions or beta communities to join, the Android Police reports.
