Finally! The most anticipated official Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean firmware update for the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 is going to be released on the third quarter of 2013, much earlier than the November rumoured date and includes Galaxy S4 features.

Patience for the owners of Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 will finally be rewarded on the Q3 of 2013 as a Samsung insider marks timeframe from July to September for Android 4.2.2 update. The delay has come to a stop after the maker of both devices launched a bug fixing update and solved the rumour on TouchWiz issues.

Third Quarter 2013 Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Firmware

Sometime in Q3 2013, Samsung will officially release the Android 4.2.2 update for both Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2. According to SamMobile, the update opens a huge window for arrival from July to September which dismisses the November rumoured date.

With this given timeframe, international and European version of the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 would likely be the first to receive the update via Over-the-Air or Samsung Kies PC Suite procedure. United States network carriers and owners of both devices are typically last in line to get major updates.

"Android 4.2.2 for the Galaxy Note 2 and S3 is planned in Q3 together with the new interface of the Galaxy S4," according to SamMobile.

Official Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean firmware with Galaxy S4 Features

One of the biggest additions of the upcoming official update on Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 is the TouchWiz found in Galaxy S4 which already leaked last May and now SamMobile confirms it via insider that some Galaxy S4 features would be included on the Android 4.2.2 update.

  • Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS features
  • Google Now
  • Project Butter
  • New camera features such as Dual Shot, Sound & Shot and Drama Shot
  • S4 Exclusive apps: S Translator, S Voice, Smart Pause, Air View/Air Gesture, Samsung KNOX, S Health

Samsung hasn't confirmed any release dates for the upcoming update but it seems like the company only awaits the new Android 4.3 and Android 5.0 before they push the Android 4.2.2 update for Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2.

As of now, you can only update your Samsung Galaxy S3 and Note 2 to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean featuring Google Now, Project Butter and bug fixes found from the previous firmware version. Use either the Over-the-Air procedure on your device or Samsung Kies PC suite on your computer to get the update.
