While HTC is normally known for immediately updating its Android handsets, some of its smartphones were not lined up to receive the 4.4.3 version of Android Kitkat OS.

Aside from the Nexus devices which will get the latest version of Kitkat, several Android devices were waiting in line to receive the firmware update in the near future. According to a recent blog post of HTC developer LlabTooFeR, he believed that the Nexus devices will be the first in line to receive the upgrade. He added that HTC One M8 and HTC One M7 handsets will also be the first devices to get the 4.4.3 Kitkat.

However, his post also listed devices that are "NOT PLANNED" or "Canceled due to lack of drivers." These devices were skipped out in the upcoming update. These are older devices released in 2012 and early 2013, including the HTC One X/X+, One XL, One S, One SV, and One V. The aforementioned smartphones have reached their respective ages where no further updates are expected.

Two weeks ago, US carrier Sprint announced that it will roll out the Android 4.4.3 Kitkat OS update to its Nexus 5 handsets on Apr. 21. The firmware KTU84F, which is a version of 4.4.3 version was expected to roll out gradually from Apr. 14 to 21 starting on the Sprint Nexus 5. However, the said date has gone past and the update was nowhere to be found.

Sprint retracted its word and stated that latest update will not roll out anytime soon. "Important Note: Due to an issue with the software, this update has been put on hold. Will update this post as soon as the rollout resumes to Google Nexus 5 Software Update - KTU84F" was posted on Sprint's website.

It is still unknown what changes and fixes that Android 4.4.3 Kitkat OS update will bring. However, it was speculated that the upgrade will herald fix to the bugs and issues found in the previous 4.4.2 version.

Google has not revealed the official changelog of the Android 4.4.3 Kitkat OS update yet. However, it was reported that the OS update will bring fix to the bugs and issues found after installing the 4.4.2 version of Kitkat.

Moreover, Android Police reported that Android 4.4.3 will be a massive bug fix update. However, users must not expect any cosmetic changes or any new features. Other bug fixes that will be included in the Kitkat update are: Frequent data connection dropout fix; Camera focus fix; Power Manager display wakelock fix; Multiple Bluetooth fixes; Random reboot fix; USB debugging security fix; Wi-Fi auto-connect fix; Stuck in activation screen fix; Missed call LED fix; and VPN Fix.
