'One Direction' Set to Host VMA Special Perfomances [VIDEO]
When a band gets a big break, it is usually up to them on how they will continue with this newfound celebrity status, whether they will create an unbreakable streak or become a one hit wonder. However, for one of the emerging top boy bands of today like One Direction, it seems like an easy job to get big time gigs. At the end of August, the five Brits will host their own MTV VMAs Special. Talk about special!
The five members of the boy band will dish out the greatest performances of the past VMAs, in honor of their first time.
"The guys - Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson - will be sharing their own memories of VMA performances past and how they're feeling about their own upcoming debut on the show." reports Celebuzz about the MTV special.
They will play host to a 30-minute special entitled "One Direction: My First Time" that will air on August 30, at 11 PM.
The British boy band came to life during the seventh season of "The X Factor" where after competing as solos, they teamed up and joined the group category, allowing them to finish third in the competition. They are made up of Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson.
This might be considered a big thing for One Direction, since it is very rare that MTV would actually produce a special just for the sake of one group. However, they did sing a song for the closing ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics, so for the teens (yes, even Louis who is 20), this might be something that they are starting to get used to.
Aside from the Special, fans will also get to see their favorite boy band perform on the show itself.
The 2012 MTV Video will take place this September, honoring the best music videos of 2011. The ceremony will be done at the Staples Center in LA, and will be hosted by Kevin Hart.
Without a doubt, One Direction is not the next big thing. On the contrary, they're already the biggest boy band of the millenium, and they can only get bigger.
