Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus has announced a discount of $50 for its only device OnePlus One as the company is all set for the launch of its successive model in the coming months, according to reports.

OnePlus has got a lot of attention since 18 months for the One, which is a high spec Android device priced at a lower side, reports Venture Beat. While the 16GB version costs $299, the 64GB version is priced at $349 but OnePlus has mostly used the invite-only purchase system for the buyers to buy the smartphone. The company finally ditched the system in April, reports Ventrue Beat.

OnePlus in its blog post said, “Last week, we announced a limited $50 discount on the OnePlus One. We were blown away by the response in sales and took a hard look at the numbers to make sure we were maintaining our commitment to our users. Over the past year, we’ve been able to increase our component orders with suppliers, and scale to a much more efficient level of operation. This has brought everything from the cost of components, engineering and assembly down, and in turn, the cost of the One.”

Reason Behind The Latest Move By OnePlus

The company is making this discount permanent in nature so that it can attract more consumers to buy the product. This would help the company in clearing the existing inventory of OnePlus One before it launches its successor i.e OnePlus Two, reports Venture Beat.

Besides that, OnePlus has also partnered with Dropbox, which offers users a Dropbox Pro subscription and a 64GB OnePlus One for $349 that amounts to savings worth $50 for users considering to upgrade their free Dropbox account, according to the Venture Beat report.

This offer commences from June 10 and will be valid in the US, Canada and EU for a limited time only. With Dropbox Pro, users will get 1TB of Dropbox space, compatibility with Android, iOS and Windows Phone, secured provisio for sharing of files and Image backups, OnePlus said through its blog.
