OnePlus One had recently released its home-baked OxygenOS (based on Android 5.0 Lollipop) for its users, states the International Business Times report from April 8. Now, the Cyanogen OS 12 firmware upgrade based on Android 5.0 Lollipop is also available for the users.

The announcement about the arrival of the new firmware upgrade for all OnePlus One users was done by Cyanogen. Phone Arena claims since Cyanogen has mentioned “all” users, it means that even user in India will be able to install the Cyanogen 12 OS on their OnePlus One device.

According to Phone Arena, because Cyanogen entered an exclusive deal with Micromax in India, OnePlus was forced to release its homegrown OxygenOS for its users. The reason why OnePlus had to give birth to OxygenOS was that an Indian court had prohibited OnePlus One with Cyanogen OS to rival with Micromax Yu handsets powered by Cyanogen OS. Later, the Indian court reversed its verdict after it was highlighted that Micromax Yu line of phones are not flagship devices. Hence, it cannot compete with OnePlus One flagship that was released last year in April 2014.

Android Central states that Cyanogen 12 OS brings forth a revamped experience and plenty of Material design. The appearance and the feel of the OS is quite similar to that of Lollipop since it is based on it. However, the Cyanogen 12 OS brings some exclusively features such as Themers app that allows users to add themes to individual apps.

There is a new email app provided by Boxer. It has features like support for Microsoft Exchange, allows user to access multiple email accounts, customise the notifications by choosing from different LED colors and more.

Since the Oxygen OS and the Cyanogen 12 OS are both available, users will have a choice to choose between the two. The Cyanogen 12 OS roll out has already started. OnePlus One will automatically show a notification when the update is available and ready for install

Have you tried the OxygenOS? Do you like it? How about your experience with the newly released Cyanogen 12 OS? Do let us know your views by posting your comments.
