Oppo introduced its stunning N3 smartphones as a successor to the well-appreciated Oppo N1 very recently. And the handset is expected to hit the store shelves sometime in November. The OnePlus One smartphone, on the other hand, was released in June. Readers who are interested in purchasing the latest Oppo N3 or the killer OnePlus One should check out this comparison.

Display, Exterior And Size

Both Oppo N3 and OnePlus One feature the same 5.5-inch screen complemented by 1,080 x 1,920 pixels resolution. However, the display technology used by Oppo and OnePlus One are IPS LCD and LTPS LCD, respectively.

When it comes to exterior, the OnePlus One features a magnesium chassis complemented by a matte-effect laden plastic back panel and held together by quality construction. In addition, the One's back shell is swappable with a slew of choices like bamboo, kevlar and denim shells, notes GizMag.

The recently unveiled Oppo N3, on the other hand, comes with a bulky build when compared to other phablets like the LG G3 or even the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. The device is very solid and gives premium look with the help of industry-grade aluminium frame encircling the edges of the smartphone. The rear panel is made of smooth-plastic material and it is neither shiny nor slippery. Furthermore, the unique swivelling camera unit has a faux-leather covering similar to Samsung's Note series of phablets, says Stuff TV.

Speaking of size, the thickness and weight of the latest Oppo N3 are 0.39-inch and 192 g respectively, whereas the OnePlus One is 0.35-inch thick and weighs 162 g. Meaning, the OnePlus handset is both thinner and lighter than the Oppo device.

Hardware, Software And Memory

Both the phones are powered by the same quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 801) Krait 400 processor. However, the processors of OnePlus and Oppo handsets are clocked at 2.5 GHz and 2.3 GHz, respectively. Moreover, the OnePlus One is backed by an impressive 3 GB of RAM, while the Oppo N3 settles for 2 GB.

On the software side, both the phones run on Android v4.4.2 KitKat OS as the foundation. In addition, the OnePlus device uses CyanogenMod 11S, whereas the Oppo handset uses Colour OS v2.0. It is worth noting that, the OnePlus One is upgradable to v4.4.4 KitKat. When it comes to memory, the One offers 16 GB and 64 GB of internal storage, while the N3 comes equipped with 32 GB. Additionally, the Oppo N3 supports expandable storage up to 128 GB, while the OnePlus smartphone doesn't.

Camera And Battery

While the OnePlus One sports a 13 MP rear-facing camera with dual-LED flash, the Oppo N3 houses a 16 MP unit with dual-LED flash. Notably, Oppo handsets have always housed the unique rotating camera unit, also known as swivelling snapper. Meaning, the primary camera unit of 16 MP doubles as the secondary unit as well. Hence Oppo N3 is selfie-lovers' dream device. The OnePlus One, meanwhile, features a respectable 5 MP shooter at the front.

The stand out camera feature of the Oppo N3 includes a motorised rotating lens, which can turn the camera to and fro automatically. This means, unlike earlier models of Oppo, the N3 owners need not turn the camera unit back and forth manually to click an image. Adding a cherry on top, Oppo N3 comes with a mini O-Click Bluetooth remote control unit. Users can utilise this remote to trigger the shutter and swivel the camera unit around for panoramic clicks, says Stuff TV. On battery, the One comes equipped with a powerful Li-Po 3100 mAh unit, while the Oppo N3 houses a Li-Po 3000 mAh unit.

Additional Features

1. Thanks to the killer battery unit, the Oppo N3 can be charged to 75 percent within 30 minutes. Plus, the N3 comes with a Fingerprint scanner support for unlocking the handset.

2. Interestingly, while the OnePlus device employs micro-SIM, the Oppo handset is a dual-SIM variant and it houses a nano-SIM and a micro-SIM holder. Furthermore, both the handsets support NFC and 4G LTE.
