OnePlus is giving 100 of its flagship smartphones "One," which rolled out the previous month to those who will smash their high-end handsets.

The promo feature began on April 25. OnePlus unveiled its new way of getting its fans to the ground floor. Head to the OnePlus smash Web site and you can register to destroy your current high-end smartphone in exchange for the One. The selected 100 high-end phone smashers will only pay $1 for a new Cyanogen-powered smartphone.

But OnePlus has changed the campaign after a week. It announced on ay 2 that participants have now the option to donate their high-end phones to Medic Mobile.

OnePlus will select the 100 from the first 100 to "smash the past" and get the One new handset. Also, they can invite friends to buy One via the invite program of OnePlus.

Promotional offers are fine, especially unique and exciting ideas. But smashing a thing that is perfectly good is wasteful, not to mention it is dangerous. Take note, "OnePlus is not liable for any damage or injury incurred to the smasher, surrounding persons or any equipment used during the shooting of each smash video."

The OnePlus smash deal has these catches. First, you should be from any of these countries: U.S., UK, Taiwan, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Italy, Hong Kong SAR China, Germany, France, Finland, Denmark, Canada, Belgium and Austria.

Second, the phone you are going to smash should be any of the following: iPhone 5/5c/5s, BlackBerry Z10/Z30, HTC One M7/M8 and One Max, LG G Flex/G2/G Pro2/Nexus 5, Motorola Moto X, Nokia Lumia 1020/1520/920/925, Samsung Galaxy Note 2/3, Samsung Galaxy S3/S4/S5, Sony Xperia Z/Z1/Z2 and Sony Xperia Z Ultra.

Then, you have to register on the OnePlus site and it will randomly pick 100 registered folks to smash their phones on video. In exchange, they will have a free 16 GB One and three invites to buy more.

If you are really willing to smash your high-end device, thinking there is nothing you can do with it, here are actually some suggestions: Make it a backup device, give it to someone, make it an mp3 player, trade it or donate it (to Cell Phones for Soldiers, National Coalition Against Domestic Violence or to Secure the Call for example). You may also take advantage of HTC's Power to Give program.
