Oppo R5 Has Officially Become The World’s Thinnest Smartphone With 4.85 MM Thickness
The Oppo R5 has dethroned the Gionee Elite S5.1 which comes with a thickness of 5.1 mm to become the world's thinnest smartphone. It's thickness is 4.85 mm and Oppo is advertising it as the 'slimmest phone in the world.' The Oppo R3 handset has a thickness of 6.3 mm.
Yesterday, we had reported that Vivo is working on a handset that measures 3.8 mm in thickness. Few photos of the rumoured Vivo handset has also surfaced but tech analysts are still thinking how it will be possible to pack in a well-performing handset in such a slim body. Until the Vivo's slimmest handset arrives, the Oppo R5 will continue to hold on to the title that it has achieved.
According to GSMArena, the Oppo R5 has an impressive appeal thanks to the 3D-welded aluminum alloy. The handset measures 148.9 x 74.5 x 4.85 mm and it weighs 155 g. It comes with a 5.2-inch AMOLED display that supports full HD resolution with 423 ppi. Oppo states that the screen offers amazing brightness and lowest reflectivity.
The Oppo R5 is getting its power to perform through the Snapdragon 615 SoC which is packed with an octa-core A53 processor. It is able to produce a clocking speed of 1.5 GHz along with Adreno 405 graphics and 2 GB of RAM. In order to prevent the chipset from heating, Oppo has included an exclusive cooling feature that is made up of phase-change materials.
On the rear side of the Oppo R5, there is a 13 MP Sony IMX214 sensor that is equipped with f/2.0 aperture. The front-facing camera is of 5 MP. The rear camera is slightly protruding and it supports 2160p video shooting at 30 fps and 1080p shooting at 60 fps. It even supports slow motion video shooting with a video quality of 720p at 120fps
There is no 3.5 mm audio jack on the device. The retail package includes a microUSB to 3.5mm audio jack adapter. The Oppo R5 is housed with a 2000 mAh battery which can be charged quickly because of the VOOC mini quick charging support, claims GMSArena. The launch date of the device has not been announced. However, it will come out with a price tag of $499.
