The producer of “The Oprah Winfrey Show”, Harpo Productions has confirmed that the show’s last episode will air on May 25, 2011.

In a statement to the Associated Press, Harpo Productions noted that that this marks the show’s 25th season since it began to storm the airwaves.

The New York Times said that the show has been on reruns for weeks but the media Queen of Talk, Oprah Winfrey was quoted tweeting last week that she was ‘hard at work planning the final shows’.

Oprah also promised in her tweet that new episodes will begin on April 7.

The Associated Press said that the final episode in May ‘brings an end to what has been television’s top-rated talk show for more than two decades’.

The show, which has affected thousands of lives of its viewers, airs in 145 countries around the world.

According to PopWatch no details have been released as of yet on the preliminary list of celebrities expected to grace Oprah’s last few episodes.

The 'Oprah Winfrey Show' is credited for its headline-grabbing interviews and for moments that no other television programs could offer.

Some of the episodes notably remembered on the show include Tom Cruise’s couch-jumping episode when he declared his love for wife Katie Holmes and announced her pregnancy for his first biological baby.

The show is also considered highly instrumental for President Barack Obama’s candidacy when Oprah declared her support to for America’s 44th President. The President was also interviewed on the show before and after the elections. No details as of yet as to whether the first family is lined-up in one of the last episodes of America’s top-rated show.
