In "The Originals" Episode 8 titled "The River in Reverse," Rebekah Mikaelson (Claire Holt) had to make a very important decision in her life to choose between love and family. The 25-year-old Australian actress spoke to the Wall Street Journal Speakeasy to talk about her character and what's in store for the blonde vampire in the "Vampire Diaries" spin-off series.

"She wants to have a life again and she's always had a real connection with Marcel. If she chooses Marcel, her family will turn their backs on her forever," Claire stated about her character's current predicament in the CW TV series. The actress further added that Rebekah had a hard time saying no to Marcel's (Charles Michael Davis) offer of a new life.

"The decision really tears her up, but I don't know if she is just going to stand on her own and forget about the loyalty to her family," Holt revealed. When asked what she would do if she was in Rebekah's shoes, Claire Holt answered that she would choose standing by her family and not standing against them like what the blonde vampire did to Klaus (Joseph Morgan), her vampire-werewolf hybrid brother.

"Men come and go and family have always been important to her. I really love the 'three musketeer' theme and getting the band back together," the actress explained. Furthermore, Claire Holt has weighed in on how her character changed during the spin-off process.

In the TVFanatic interview, Holt admitted that she had fun portraying Rebekah in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 4 but she felt like her mojo was lost in the series. "I really loved playing Rebekah on The Vampire Diaries, but there just wasn't that much time for her because the other characters were more important and so now that we have a show of our own, it's really fun to sort of explore those sides more," the actress stated.

Claire Holt appears to be happy now that Rebekah Mikaelson is back on track as a central character in "The Originals" after her stint in "The Vampire Diaries." The actress shared in the WetPaint report: "I really liked the arc that I got to play, but she softened and the thing that I loved the most coming into playing Rebekah was how sassy she was and how fun she was and how she could go on murder sprees and not care at all. So, I really enjoyed getting to go back to her roots and tapping into that side a little more."
