Spoiler Alert: This feature contains major spoilers on "The Originals" Season 2, episode 1 titled "Rebirth."
The episode begins with Aunt Rebekah (Claire Holt) telling a different fairy tale story to her niece, Hope Mikaelson. It has been months since Francesca Correa (Peta Sergeant), a descendant of the Guerrera werewolf clan, defeated Klaus Mikaelson but the Original hybrid decided to lie low as part of their plan to take down their werewolf enemies.
Marcel tells Cami that something is up because he knows Klaus is not the type who will wait for months before striking his enemies. It turns out Elijah has been busy locating the werewolves who wear the created moonlight rings forged with Klaus' blood which makes the Original hybrid weak during a full moon. Klaus' silence and absence is making Francesca lose her mind because she has no idea what the Original hybrid is up to.
Cami shows up at the French Quarter to talk to Klaus but she ended up having a conversation with Elijah instead. Cami, who is currently in a "no-strings-attached" relationship with Marcel, reminded the older Mikaelson sibling that they have a secret weapon on the other side of the river waiting to be fired.
Klaus shows up in Marcel's place to initially ask him if he has the missing White Oak Stake that can kill him. When Marcel told him that he does not have the dangerous weapon, the Original hybrid asked if Marcel can help him find it because he thinks Francesca has it.
Then, record store owner Joe arrived to tell Marcel that werewolves arrived at his shop to attack him but Davina (Danielle Campbell) was there to save him. Klaus offered Joe the chance to get back in the fight with his "wolf hunt" plan when he figured out that Francesca does not have the weapon yet but the record store owner spilled everything he knows to Francesca including where they can obtain the White Oak Stake.
Francesca sent two of his men to Cami's place to ask her where the weapon is so Cami wrote down an address and gave them the key. Francesca's werewolves arrived at the address that Cami gave them but it was a trap when Marcel came out of the location to set off the wolfsbane that he has been storing for months.
Then, Marcel, Hayley and Elijah killed the werewolves that have the moonlight rings in order for Klaus to regain his strength. Francesca was initially confident that an Original vampire cannot enter her home without an invitation but Elijah explained that the house really belongs to the public now so anyone can enter without invitation. Francesca ran for her life but Hayley got to her and killed her before she could escape by leaving town.
Hayley revealed to Elijah that she now hates her new status in life because she is becoming more of a vampire than who she really is which is a werewolf. Elijah told his brother about Hayley's current condition so Klaus comforted the new hybrid with the return of their daughter if the two of them team up in gaining control over New Orleans.
However, Klaus is still unaware of his other enemies secretly planning their move against the Original hybrid. Davina is in control of Mikael (Sebastian Roché), who has the White Oak Stake, while Esther (Alice Evans), who is in Cassie's (Natalie Dreyfuss) body, plans a Mikaelson family reunion in the ending scene with her sons Finn or Cami's sponsor Vincent Griffith (Yusaf Gatewood) and Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic) or Kaleb (Daniel Sharman), the handsome but mysterious guy that befriended Davina at the record store.
"The Originals" Season 2 will return with episode 2 titled "Alive and Kicking" on Monday night, Oct. 13, at 8 p.m. ET on the CW Network.
