OS X 10.10: Five Features to Anticipate at WWDC 2014

Several sites have placed OS X 10.10 on the sure bets to be unveiled during the week-long activity. Here are five fresh features to expect from this opeating system.

Code Name Yosemite

According to MacRumors, one of the first banners that appeared at the lobby of Moscone West Convention Center in San Francisco, California depicts the El Capitan rock formation in Yosemite. The tagline on the banner reads "Write the Code, Change the World". This banner suggests that OS X 10.10 will be called Yosemite.

Flat Elements

Forbes mentioned that OS X 10.10 will very likely have the look of its user interface (UI) so that users will be able to strongly identify its resemblance with the looks of iOS. The aesthetic redesign will give a cohesive look and feel among the various Apple products in the market like iPad iPhone, and Mac .

White Textures

Instead of life-like elements on previous OS X versions, 9to5 Mac stated that Apple will unveil white textures as part of its end-to-end redesign. It will also have sharper edges and icons. Although the specific details of the new look are still very much a secret, there is high possibility that the OS X 10.10 will sport a more iOS-like physical look.

Addition of Siri

The same above-mentioned sources also mentioned that Apple has been testing on the digital assistant Siri to be added to OS X 10.10. Just like iOS 7, OS X users will be able to just speak up their wish like sending messages, scheduling meetings, or placing phone calls and the intelligent digital assistant will do it for them. Siri will even talk back to the user and will also be able to perform other tasks that will literally make the users wish to be Siri's command.

AirDrop Compatibility

Several Web sites also mentioned that the file-sharing tool AirDrop will likely go cross-platform and will be compatible with OS X 10.10. With this enhancement, OS X 10.10 will also get to share locations, photos, Web sites, videos, and other files with other nearby devices just like iOS 7.

Apple has remained tight lipped about the various speculations surrounding the OS X 10.10. But with WWDC just around the corner, high hopes and surprises are expected to unfold during the event.
