OS X Mavericks Gold and MacBook Pro 2013 to Come Together this October?
Apple has been preparing for release of OS X Mavericks Gold soon. The upcoming desktop operating system, OS X Mavericks, is termed as GM because it stands for "gold master." This corresponds to an era where programs or applications were written on master optical discs. Often, these are coloured gold to label archival durability.
The GM seed is expected to serve as the official commercial release given there are no errors.
The release of the OS X Mavericks follows the launching of iOS 7. This is the latest Apple mobile operating system to hit the market. The timing of the release for Mavericks works well because there are more and more areas overlapping between these two frameworks.
In the iOS7, Apple included the AirDrop. This was previously launched together with the OS X Lion. The OS X Mavericks, on the other hand, will add the iBooks and Maps apps from iOS. There is also a crossover through iCloud. Apps and common services such as iTunes Radio, Reminders and Notes can be found on both systems already.
There are still talks whether Apple plans on combining the iOS and the OS X. Some sources say it can happen, especially since the benefits of doing so are apparent. As of the moment, people will have to settle for co-habitation between the two systems.
As more reports surface about Apple's announcement of the Mavericks, there are also reports saying it can be around the same time as the release of the MacBook Pro. Apple has already refreshed its MacBook Air line but has to launch a new group for its MacBook Pro series - both for non-retina and retina editions.
There were already reports indicating Apple's announcement of the latest iPads this Oct 22. Some sources are saying it is possible to see the launch of the 2013 MacBook Pro at around the same time. There are also high expectations that Apple will introduce Haswell to their MacBook Pro lineup. MacBook Airs already received the processors and now boasts incredible battery life. If the MacBook Pro will receive Haswell, then it can have 70 to 80 percent battery life plus high performance.
