'Outlander' season 3 'heard on the set'; season 4 casting begins
Co-executive Producer and writer Matthew B. Roberts has shared a dialogue that was heard on the set. This is perhaps the first time that he has done this, as it is usually Co-executive Producer Maril Davis who gives out such teasers. Meanwhile, the casting for season 4 began in the cutest of ways, by taking on two pups to play an important role.
“I thought those would be softer…” was heard on the set. Roberts tagged Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser) in the post, suggesting that this is something the actor said in a scene. The post was apparently in celebration of the deal Writers Guild of America reached, and averted going on a strike to see their demands met.
Responding to the post by Roberts, Heughan tweeted a neutral face emoji, and did not offer a comment. The dialogue and its context is something that the fans will have to use their imagination in order to figure out at the moment.
While production of “Outlander” season 3 continues in Cape Town, South Africa, the casting process for season 4 has already begun. The first announcement by Starz is for the role of Young Ian’s (John Bell) dog Rollo. Two pups will be playing this role on the show next year.
Young Ian will be first seen this year, without a dog. He is the son of Ian (Steven Cree) and Jenny (Laura Donnelly). In the books by Diana Gabaldon, on which the Starz show is based, he was living with Jamie and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) in Fraser’s Ridge in North Carolina. His dog is actually a half-wolf, and it will play an important role in the character’s storyline.
A lot of new characters will be introduced this year, so it is difficult to say who will get a lot of screen time. Young Ian, however, is an important character, and the fans will get to see much more of him as the story progresses. At the moment the plot will begin with the pain Jamie and Claire feel during their separation, what they did during this time, and the adventures after their reunion.
Roberts has also shared new pictures from the production set of “Outlander” season 3. From the red sky in the morning, which had the producers worried about the weather during filming, to a rainbow in the sky- the pictures show the scenic beauty of South Africa that the fans will get to enjoy in September, when the show premieres.
