Manny Pacquiao should be in his fight form in no time, according to his strength and conditioning coach Justin Fortune. Australian native Fortune said he was “impressed” with Pacquiao’s current form. He can already visualize that the Filipino boxing champion will be in top shape for the May 2 fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr.

During an interview at his Hollywood gym as reported by Philboxing.com, Fortune said that he was surprised to see Pacquiao for the first time at training camp. He said that he wasn’t really expecting to see the Filipino in a relatively good shape following his victory over previously undefeated Chris Algieri in Macau back in November. Fortune couldn’t have been more pleased with it.

“(It’s) good news, really, because we won’t be having a hard time in putting Manny back to his fighting form,” Fortune said. “I don’t think there will be a problem as far as Manny’s conditioning aspect is concerned, Manny knows everything about preparing himself for a fight and that he’s proven time and time again.”

Fortune stressed that they know what to do to prepare Pacquiao for the Mayweather fight and that is to simply fill up what the Filipino is lacking in terms of the skills that the eight-division world champion needs for the fight. He said that Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach will be the chief second, who will be in charge with the “master plan.” Fortune added that his main role is to unleash the beast in Pacquiao and train the Filipino to go a little farther than he can.

“What he will be doing atop the ring, we would do twice as much off it. The ring-floor thing, stomach, etc. on the whole range of different exercise.”

The former heavyweight contender projected that Pacquiao is now 60 percent in shape. He said that they should be able to get Pacquiao 100 percent ready in the next couple of months.

Meanwhile, Pacquiao is on his fourth day of training. Pacquiao constantly shares videos of his training sessions on Instagram to keep his fans updated ever since he arrived in Los Angeles. As for Mayweather, he has also started the ball rolling as far his training is concerned. Mayweather kicked off his training camp on March 2 and recently shared a video of him hitting the pads. It is expected that both Pacquiao and Mayweather will take a break from their respective camps to attend the lone press conference for the fight that will take place in Los Angeles on March 11.
