In a press release, CBS states that Finch and Reese are ready to do anything to bring the machine back to life. Root (Amy Acker) will battle to survive while Fusco (Kevin Chapman) will be interrogated by the NYPD. All these will happen in Season 5 Episode 1, titled “B.S.O.D.”
“Reese and Finch attempt to rescue the Machine’s source code before it deteriorates beyond repair. Also, Root fights for her life against an onslaught of Samaritan’s agents and Fusco is faced with hard questions following the deaths of Dominic (Winston Duke) and Elias (Enrico Colantoni),” stated the episode synopsis.
Some preview photos from the upcoming season were released recently. “B.S.O.D.” stands for “Blue Screen of Death,” which refers to a computer system failure, where the screen changes to blue with white text. The title may be related to Finch and Reese’s attempt to rescue the source code of the Machine via the small screen to save it from deteriorating completely. In the Season 4 finale, the Finch and Root tried to rescue the Machine from Samaritan, although it is still unknown how the Machine will fare next after it suffered from a power surge.
Meanwhile, Root will also have to fend several Samaritan agents to save her own life. Fusco will be facing difficult questions from the cops regarding the deaths of Dominic and Elias, who were killed by Samaritan snipers after they discovered the truth about “The Correction.”
The Season 5 premiere will showcase Reese and Finch trying to outsmart Samaritan. The two will be on the run as Samaritan’s agents continue to seek them out. One photo showed Jim apparently hiding from dangerous men with a gun in his hand. Another photo featured finch extending a briefcase across a fence using a hooked pole.
“Person of Interest” Season 5 will premiere on May 3, 2016 on CBS in the US and on FX in Australia. The story will be spread out into 13 episodes before the show officially goes off the air.
