PES 2015 Updates: PS4 Confirmed at 1080p/60FPS, Xbox One Unsure; Microtransactions, New System Introduced
"The pitch is ours"--just as the bold claim on the field for "PES 2015," Konami also seems to be going the bold route, as the latest game in the series is now the first game to debut on the PS4 and Xbox One.
This means that, despite the FOX Engine debuting in the "PES 2014," the "PES 2015" is the next-gen counterpart, complete with better graphics and improved lighting effects.
Perhaps an interesting twist here is that, while the PS4 version is locked and loaded to run at 1080p/60FPS, it seems that Konami is not yet ready to give the same numbers for the Xbox One version.
"We're locked at 60 frames, 1080p already, and this is the first build," said brand manager Adam Bhatti to Videogamer in reference to a PS4 demo.
"We still have a lot of work on game balance and some of the gameplay elements are just much more visible on what we want to deliver... We thought that would be able to be conveyed best through a PS4 at this stage, but we are definitely working on the Xbox One [and] all other platforms in parallel to the PS4 edition.
Microtransactions to Enhance the Game?
In the growing practice of microtransactions, "PES 2015" seem to also be prepared to jump the bandwagon as Konami announces the use of real money in the game.
Metro reports that the use of microtransactions when it comes to club dealings will be introduced in the Master League mode. This means that apart from the accumulated GP, real money can now be the name of the game. One possibility here is that "PES 2015" may be in danger of the ever dreaded "game of the rich," where those who are capable of coughing up cash to get the players and managers they want instead of playing your way through the game.
Since the microtransactions component has just been announced, it's still a waiting game on what fans' reactions could be.
FOX Engine: Pushing the Experience to "MGSV" Level Technology
For those who may be disappointed with the announcement of microtransactions, there's still something worth looking forward to in "PES 2015," and it would have to be the new system backing the game.
Aside from the fact that "PES 2015" is slated to be the first next-gen game in the PES franchise, the title is also making use of the FOX engine, a Kojima Production-created technology that also powers the "Metal Gear Solid V" games. According to VG 24/7, the FOX Engine has allowed Konami more flexibility and capability in creating more real, not just in terms of the facial animations but also the play styles that can be the turning point in the games.
If that's not enough realism, Konami has also targeted and effected changes in the in-game shooting and other related mechanics in the field to ensure that the excitement is as real as it gets, reports Eurogamer.
A new shooting system will be used to have a more varied array of shooting styles, while keeping the players in control of the power and direction. New physics routines will also be used for final pass options, making it more adaptive and more life-like when a player is in the field.
Since the controls have been revamped, the developer has also claimed that there will be incredible response times and improved control of the players' ability to move about.
"PES 2015" does not currently have a definitive release date, but it has been announced to debut on the PS4 and Xbox One sometime in the later part of 2014. Additional platforms, if any, will probably be announced sometime during this period.
