Phillip Phillips talked about his thoughts after winning, his parents, and his girlfriend's reaction to his screaming fans in a radio interview with American Idol host Ryan Seacrest right after his victory on American Idol Season 11.

Seacrest reminded Phillips of the moment he read his name on the card, and how the singer was in tears as he came to his parents after his win was announced.

"What did you say to your mom and dad?" Seacrest asked. Phillips chuckled, "I couldn't really talk... I was crying... It's so surreal to me."

Is Phillip Phillips' girlfriend jealous?

Seacrest also asked Phillips about his girlfriend, who was in the studio during the interview. (She is seen smiling in the video below.)

"Does she get jealous of the screaming girls?"

"No she doesn't," Phillips said. Then he joked, "She makes it known that she's with me."

"She should," Seacrest replied quickly.

Phillips' health and kidney condition

Perhaps one of the reasons why Phillips' Idol victory was surreal to him was the fact that he almost left the competition. A few weeks before the Final Four was announced, Phillip's mother had asked for prayers on Facebook because he was not really in perfect shape. Thanks to good doctors around him, he got to stay long enough to make it through to the grand finals and win in it all.

In a conference call with Idol Chatter's Lindsey Deutsch, Phillips admitted the competition has taken its toll on his health.

"I had a lot of great doctors and a lot of people who helped me out so I'm blessed to have that. I came close to almost dropping out to get the surgery done but the doctors helped me through it."

Phillips too modest?

The media has also written about how modest Phillips has been about his music. Deutsch asked Phillips for the reason why he seemed to be downplaying his skills, and what does he think about the reason for his win. Phillips said:

"I don't feel like I'm that great. I'm not outstanding. I can't hit all these high notes, but I do something... Hopefully a lot of people saw what I did was music because I'm really passionate about it, maybe they felt that through what I did, how I changed some songs up and everything."

Phillips touring with girlfriend?

Prodded to talk about his girlfriend, Phillips told Deutsch he loved his girlfriend "to death" and he hoped she could join the Top 10 on the Idol tour.

"She is really excited for me and she's helped me out a lot through this. I'm hoping she'll maybe be able to go on tour. It would be cool having her, she's supported me so much. Love her, love her to death," the bluesy rocker said.
