Plants vs Zombies 2 Release Date July 10 in Australia, New Zealand; Costly In-App Purchases? [SCREENSHOTS, VIDEO]
iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch users can now get the game via the App Store
Plants vs Zombies 2 release date has arrived, but not in all countries. iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch users in Australia and New Zealand are now able to download PvZ 2. Players in U.S. and other countries have to wait in 2 to 3 weeks as the game stability will be tested during this soft launch. Meanwhile, players are worried over more expensive upgrades, saying their in-app purchases could diminish the fun in the game.
UPDATE: How to Download Plants vs Zombies 2 Now!
"Plants vs Zombies' veneer is simple and silly, but there is an extremely complex system of software in place that supports it," Senior Producer Allen Murray told IGN, explaining a lot has to be tested in the game's back-end system.
"We're using this time to work on things like how we handle accounts. Family play is important to us. In Plants vs Zombies 2 multiple accounts can progress through the game independently on a single device. Premium-purchased Plants and other items are shared between accounts. We take advantage of cross-device cloud saves, a shared wallet system, we stream in new game worlds to keep the initial download small... we're using this time to stabilize these systems," Mr Murray added.
In the hopes of managing the cost of Plants vs Zombies in-app purchases, some users are urging the Aussies and Kiwis to hold back from buying upgrades.
"Request for people in Australia and New Zealand - please don't buy any of the in-app purchases during the soft launch period. The article says they're basing pricing and such in part based on how things go. Maybe if EA sees that no one is buying them they will convert some of them to free or at least lower the prices. You never know," writes autrefois on macrumors.com.
AU and NZ gamers who want to Plants vs Zombies 2 simply has to go to the App Store to download the app. Fresh content and upgrades await the PvZ 2 players. Exciting locations have also been designed into the game.
Other commenters are pointing out they are buying a tablet for the first time for a different (and bigger) Plants vs Zombies gaming experience.
Does this mean Candy Crush is taking the back seat in Australia and New Zealand?
