Aside from being one of the most anticipated sequels, Plants vs. Zombies 2 has been ranking up the popularity charts before it has even reached the territories beyond its beta testing ground of Australia and New Zealand.

With the release date still unspecified, there are only the gameplay videos and online reviews to go on for hardcore players.

But this time, developers have released a new video, a dev diary that details the challenges of changing up the game without changing the core that fans have loved.

"We're taking you on this travel through time adventure so you're working with Crazy Dave and his time machine Penny to go back in time to find his taco," said Allen Murray of PopCap Games to YNN. "His intention was to go back five minutes ago to eat the taco but something goes awry and you end up in ancient Egypt."

Polygon adds that the game kicks off from the first, wherein, to celebrate, Crazy Dave eats a taco but then aims to use a time machine to go back five minutes to eat it again. As you can imagine, chaos ensues and you're taken ages into the past, landing in Ancient Egypt.

As far as twists are concerned, you have plant food, which, as YNN reports, is dropped by zombies and allows you to power up your plant temporarily and other powerups where you can earn coins to use in the game.

Check out the video here while you wait for the release of the app on iOS and Android devices coming later this summer.

No more FEZ sequel

Apparently, that's it for those who have been waiting for the indie game Fez's next installment. Polytron, the studio responsible for the puzzle game hit, has officially announced that the sudden cancellation of the game is for real.

And the final straw that led to this whole affair? A comment (or lack thereof) on Microsoft's latest policy reversal regarding independent publishing.

According to Kotaku, it was a heated discussion between Phil Fish, the person responsible for Fez, and Marcus Beer on GameTrailers, who had been engaged in a very heated discussion turned ugly in no time.

As per the report Fish's lack of comment and alleged overload on "whining" regarding the latest policy reversal had made Marcus Beer act more aggravated than usual, quoted by Kotaku saying, "Don't get f***ing snicky about it. Me, I think the both of you are a pair of tosspots."

Fish, on the other hand, had demanded a public apology from Beer, while stating an equally aggressive argument, wherein he allegedly compared his life with Fish and ask told Beer to kill himself.

The end of it all is the cancellation of Fez 2, with Polytron backing the statement with a confirmation that the sequel is, indeed, no more.

However, according to The Verge, it was reported that the blowup on Twitter wasn't the reason for why the Fez sequel will not come to pass. Quoting the post on Polytron's official website:

"FEZ II is cancelled. I am done. I take the money and I run. This is as much as I can stomach. This isn't the result of any one thing, but the end of a long, bloody campaign. You win."
