A very tough way to find a Shiny Honedge is trying to hatch one. The player in the video said it took him 40 to 50 tries to hatch a Shiny Honedge, however, you can see on the comments section that the other players had to take 200 to 400 times to do it.
"This is my first shiny in the game, took about 40 or 50 eggs before I got to it, and it's a brave nature," Mootypwns said.

The most popular way to catch a Shiny Pokemon, however, is through a method called "chaining," which can be done either on land or water. It is important to furnish your character with essential items to find the Shiny Pokemon because the odds of finding them is reportedly at 1 in 1,800, which is lowered significantly to 1 in 200 using the chaining method.
The essential items are Dive Balls, Ultra Balls and Pokemon with Octillery or Inkay abilities when you search from the water.
Upon collecting the items, head on to Route 6 and speak to a fisherman in the houses. After speaking to him, you can cast the line out near the stones and keep running from the battle immediate, reeling in Pokemon until the Shiny appears. This creates a chain that should not be broken because after about 40 casts, the odds will go up and a Shiny would appear if it's done correctly.
Another way to catch a shiny Pokemon in grass is to gather a PokeRadar, Max Repel and PokeBalls. Ensure that your Pokeradar is loaded, search for a big field and use the Max Repel as you go in the middle of the grass. There should be no holes in the grass patches.
Use the PokeRadar and the grass will shake. A Pokemon will appear and if it's not what you're searching for, walk 50 steps again and repeat this step. You have to defeat the Pokemon or catch it and the grass will shake as you do. Grass borders are no good and don't go into grass that shake next to each other. Don't go to the grass that's only 1 or 2 fields away from you.
There are new grass patches in X and Y that tells you which Pokemon is inside and a shiny shaking grass contains a Shiny Pokemon. Don't use inline skates and make sure you don't have any eggs with you. Shiny rates go after around 40 encounters so be patient.
You can also catch a shiny Pokemon when you enter a café and beat the waiter's Pokemon in a specific fashion. Tip him and a Shiny Pokemon will be more available.
