Fans who enjoy playing Pokemon X and Y can now prepare to challenge their peers worldwide in an International competition. Registration for the event begins on May 8 from 8 pm EST, there is a player cap and people who register early will get a chance to participate.

The Pokemon X and Y international challenge will begin on May 16, Friday and go on till May 18, Sunday. The total number of participants will be 50,000, subject to change by the company. The ranking results will be announced on May 22, Thursday.

Players can use their copy of either Pokemon X or Pokemon Y for the challenge. Players can register their 4 to 6 of level 1 to 100 Pokemon in the Battle Box. The level will automatically get adjusted to 50 for the challenge.

The competition will have two age divisions. The Junior or Senior division will include all players born in 1999 or later. The Masters division will include all players born in 1998 or earlier. Players can battle in up to 20 games per day during the challenge.

At the beginning of the game a player will have 90 seconds to select 4 Pokemon, found in the Kalos Pokedexes. Players can't use Mewtwo, Xerneas, Yveltal and Zygarde or the ones brought to the game using the Nintendo 3DS downloadable software Poke Transporter.

There will be a 15 minutes time limit for each battle and at the end of the time limit if there is still no clear winner, the winner of the battle will be decided by the number of Pokemon remaining, the player with more Pokemon remaining will win. If both players have an equal number of Pokemon then the average HP remaining will be taken into consideration.

In order to participate in the competition a player will need to have a Pokemon Trainer Club membership, either a Pokemon X or Pokemon Y game with a Game Sync ID registered in PGL, if a player has registered both versions of the game in PGL one version needs to be selected for the competition.

Players can register for the competition by logging into the Pokemon Global Link and go to Online Competitions. Players need to set up a Battle Box and choose up to 6 Pokemon. As reward for the competition all players who are ranked get an Enigma Berry and the top 128 players will receive Championship Points.
