In fact, not only are the Catholic faithful expected to be guests to the event, but also leaders and dignitaries from all over the world, where Vatican expects could reach a million.

Philippine Vice President Jejomar C. Binay has been reported to have left the country's capital of Manila on Monday for Rome to represent Philippine President Benigno S. Aquino III to the inauguration at the Vatican.

A four-member delegation from India, led by Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman PJ Kurien, will also be there.

The spiritual leaders of the world's Orthodox Christians, led by Bartholomew I, the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, will also attend the inauguration of new Pope Francis, the Vatican radio reported, a first since the year 1054.

Taiwan's President Ma Ying-jeou, together with his first lady Chow Mei-ching, are likewise expected on Tuesday, leading a five-person delegation.

Vice President Joe Biden and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi will represent the United States.

Notwithstanding previous tense relations with the former cardinal now Pope Francis, President Cristina Kirchner of Argentina is also already in Rome.

From Latin America, Brazilian President Dilma Vana Rousseff Linhares has likewise arrived in Rome on Sunday. Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto, Uruguay's Vice President Danilo Astori and Colombian former president Cesar Gaviria are also being expected.

Ibrahim Isaac Sidrak, the Coptic Catholic Patriarch of Alexandria, Egypt, as well as Metropolitan Hilarion, second in the Russian Orthodox hierarchy, are also expected.
