Chelsea FC has confirmed the signing of Samel Eto'o from Russian giants Anzhi Makhachkala on Thursday.

Eto'o was enthused to have the opportunity to play with the Blues and reunite with his former mentor, Jose Mourinho, at Inter Milan.

"I am very happy to be here but also anxious because I want to get playing as soon as possible." Eto'o told chelseafc.com.

'It wasn't a hard decision. I saw the qualities Chelsea have, and I was very happy with Jose Mourinho before, so when the opportunity came, I was very happy to take it."

The Cameroonian is one of the deadliest strikers in the world, who could score at will on any given night.

He rose to stardom during his stint at Barcelona, where he won the Pichichi Trophy in 2006.

Rather than scoring goals, Eto'o's first priority is to be able to gel with the team as soon as possible, and try to enjoy playing the game because he thinks he is most effective on the pitch, in doing so.

He disclosed his awe from what he witnessed from the fans when he played at Stamford Bridge during his term with Inter and Barcelona.

"The atmosphere was incredible, the fans didn't stop shouting, and coming from Spain, where it is not always like that, it was a big surprise."

With vast experience and having won everything there is to win in club-level football, Eto'o is levelheaded and knows what it takes to win in the world's most prestigious competition.

"It doesn't matter what teams you are drawn against, big or small, you have to give them the correct level of respect to achieve the right results."

At 32, the only question is, will he be able to replicate or even sustain his form, with father time catching up on him?
