The Royal couple decided on a ‘multi-tiered traditional fruit case’ with a floral design and a chocolate biscuit cake for the big day at the Abbey.
The main cake to be designed by celebrity cakemaker and designer, Fiona Cairns will be placed at the center stage at the reception at Bucking Palace on April 29. Cairns noted the Agence France Presse had also designed the cake for the wedding of former Beatle Paul McCartney and rockers Pinky Floyd.
The future-bride said the cake designer is hands on in the preparation of the wedding cake.
"She has guided us right from the beginning and has quite strong ideas," Cairns was quoted as saying by the Agence France Presse.
Cairns stressed her delight for the insights given by Middleton in the cake’s design, since it makes her job easier than when confronted with brides whom she said are in the dark of what they really want for their cake.
The celebrity cake designer said, "That makes it much easier than a bride who has absolutely no idea whatsoever, which has happened in the past. But she knew very much what she wanted and she brought us mood boards and told us what influences she would like us to use on the cake."

The Agence France Presse explained that the Royal Wedding cake will use cream and white icing with a ‘strong British floral theme’ for its decoration. The cake, it added will employ the traditional English style in the preparations of the cake, called Joseph Lambeth technique. This technique added AFP uses three-dimensional scrollwork.
The cream and icing will be complemented with dried fruits, said AFP including raisins, sultanas, walnuts, cherries, grated oranges and lemon.
The cake will also be prepared with French brandy and free range eggs and flour.

It should be noted that the second cake, -- the chocolate biscuit cake - - described by AFP as the less formal cake is Prince William’s favorite cake as a child.
The AFP said that the chocolate biscuit cake will be created by biscuit maker, McVitie’s, following Prince William’s request.
"When Prince William was a young boy he would have it for tea and really enjoyed it," according to Paul Courtney, the cake design and development head chef for McVities.
The special recipe of the second cake, said Courtney will be coming from the kitchens at Buckingham Palace, the details of which, he refused to share.
"It has a couple of secret ingredients we can't tell you about but it will have dark chocolate, to give it a really nice flavour, and use rich tea biscuits that will be broken up," Agence France Presse quoted Courtney as saying.
