Princess Diana's boyfriend’s Ferrari found vandalised in Melbourne
A $2.5m Ferrari, which was the ownage of Princess Diana's boyfriend Dodi Fayed, has been found in a pitiful condition in Langwarrin.
The luxury sports car has been burned down to ashes near Frankston and it is being speculated that the car belonged to Dodi Fayed, who died in an accident along with the Princess of Wales on Aug. 31, 1997.
The exquisite Ferrari that was once a prized property of Fayed was stolen from a luxury car mechanic in Melbourne on Friday along with another Ferrari. According to Stuff, Fayed’s Daytona was shipped from the United Kingdom by businessman Enzo Ceravolo, who had finished the restoration work of the vehicle only recently after a hiatus of five years. Thieves burgled a workshop in Melbourne by ramming a roller door at about 3.40am on Friday and stole two cars - a $100,000 Ferrari 328 and the Daytona.
The owner of the car is devastated over this huge loss and told Fairfax Media, "You never think things like this can happen, not a vehicle like that. I grew up with them, my father was a mechanic, it was a dream one day to own one. I don't have any other sport cars, that was the one.”
He handed over the car to the mechanic as he witnessed some alternator issues in it a couple of weeks ago. It was recently exhibited at the “Motorclassica” that was organized in the Royal Exhibition building. Kelly Grindley, Victoria Police spokeswoman, announced about the blazed car and said that the emergency services were called on Saturday in the wee hours and on reaching the spot they found the Daytona Ferrari “extensively damaged.”
The second stolen car, which is a red 1986 Ferrari 328 with number plate “FUN328,”was also found in a similar condition on Jolly Street in Frankston at about 6.30am on Monday, Canberra Times reported. The net worth of this car was estimated to be above $100,000.
