PS4 News: Firmware Updates For Devs, PS Plus March Lineup And A Spring Fever 2015 Sale
Sony has teased that the next major PS4 firmware update will be coming sometime soon. But it seems that this one will not only benefit gamers with new features, but also developers.
Gamingbolt managed to spot another leak from industry insider Tidux, where he revealed that the PS4 firmware update 2.04 will have some hidden feature for developers as well. Specifically, the report cites that these features are main on improvements for the PS4’s SDK.
These updates, however, are supposedly released silently to the devs and not to the public. The rationale here is that the hidden features are meant for the developers anyway. The link above shows a number of TIdux’s tweets compiled. For now it’s best to take this with a grain of salt, as Sony has not yet specified what will be coming out for the next PS4 firmware update.
PS Plus March Won’t Include ‘Helldivers’
As far as previous leaks are concerned, the first leaked title “Helldivers” has already been disconfirmed by developer Arrowhead Games. Gamepur reports that during the AMA Reddit session, the developer revealed that despite the hype and excitement of a possible PlayStation Plus release of the cross-buy title this is not the case.
This frees up one more slot in the PS Plus March lineup, assuming that the spotted leak from a Japanese PS Plus lineup has some truth in it. But it’s best to wait for Sony’s official announcement of the lineup, since there are still two days to go before March hits.
Sony’s Fred Dutton did state in the latest tweet that they are in the process of finalising the details. The expected announcement is this week.
Spring Fever 2015 In Full Swing This March
There is something more definitive happening in March that Sony has finally announced. Detailed over the PlayStation Blog, the Spring Fever 2015 will last over the span of eight weeks. And during that time, there will be eight PS4 games coming out, namely the following:
- Helldivers: March 3
- Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number: March 10
- Jamestown+: March 17
- Metal Slug 3: March 24
- Axiom Verge: March 31
- Bastion: April 7
- Titan Soul: April 14
- Shovel Knight: April 21
Each of the titles will have a PS Plus launch week price, which brings it to a 10% discount for members. Some of the games are cross-buy titles, including “Helldivers,” “Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number,” “Metal Slug 3,” “Titan Souls” and “Shovel Knight.” The titles that will be on sale will be released at the same date as the ones listed above, so best to check for updates around that time.
