PS4 System Update 1.52: Available Now, Improves System Stability And Other Highlights
Sony has recently released PlayStation 4 system update 1.52 that promises to improve system software stability. The software update can be manually downloaded from the Settings menu. Players can also set their systems to download updates automatically by enabling "Automatic Downloads."
Microsoft, Sony's competitor, has also released a firmware update for the Xbox One a day earlier, addressing various operating systems, SmartGlass and matchmaking issues. The PlayStation 4 has sold over 2.1 million units worldwide and is now neck-and-neck against the Xbox One after Microsoft announced its sales of 2 million units.
Some PlayStation 4 fresh highlights and details include the actual party chat for the PlayStation Network. This means PlayStation 4 supports chatrooms of eight, allowing different groups to jump from one game to another together and even people on Vita can join the fun.
Other tidbits are a double-tap PS4 home button that will quickly switch between the two active apps. The PlayStation Store is organized in a neat rail while trophies now have a worldwide rarity measure attached to it. This tells you how many people have actually unlocked a certain achievement. Another big addition for the PlayStation 4 is the ability to charge the controllers while the system is on standby. You don't need to keep your console turned on.
Finally, a great feature is the "play as a guest" mode where a user can access his content in a foreign box. This will remove all your personal data such as credit card info upon log out. If you have two PlayStation 4 consoles in the house, both can be logged in under a single PSN ID simultaneously in the past but not anymore. This is a good security measure.
A rundown of other highlights include the launch of Grand Turismo 6 for the PS3, Grand Theft Auto 5 being available bundled with a 500GB PS3 console and headset, a price drop of the PlayStation Vita and its memory cards, a sequel to Hotline Miami coming first to the Vita and PlayStation 4 in 2014 and Assassin's Creed 4 allowing you to switch your gameplay from PS4 to Vita and back.
