Remote play on the PS4 is more than just making use of the PS Vita to play your next-gen games while on the go. A new report suggests that remotely turning on your PS4 is also possible with the PlayStation smartphone app.

An official announcement from Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida via Twitter is reported by GameSpot, confirming the new feature.

"When you buy a PS4 game on smartphone, it will wake up your PS4 up to start downloading the game. PS4 goes back to sleep after that," said Yoshida on his Twitter account.

This means that you can easily browse through game selections to be played for the PS Vita through your smartphone even on the go, and have no worries about whether or not you have to wait until you get home to download instead of simply playing the game upon arrival.

Ideally, this is a practical feature for those who spend most of their days outside of the house, and would be even more useful for when time-based discounts on games are being offered.

Xbox One to have a digital resale marketplace?

Microsoft may be putting the whole secondhand game selling into an entirely different platform, one where you can sell to Xbox One owners on a digital level.

Spotted by IGN on the NeoGaf forum, a new rumour is now circulating that reselling old games to other Xbox One users will be made possible via an online marketplace.

Similar to how the secondhand retail shops work, this supposed marketplace will be selling the used games at various prices, which ca be affected by the add-ons and features that come with the game.

A digital aspect to game selling may be a reflection of Microsoft's previous plan for the Xbox One to go digital, though it may have a lot of refinements to do before executing the plan, if only to avoid a similar fiasco with all the policies and requirements.

This can be an innovative feature at best, if all the stakeholders are compensated for and brought in the loop of the digital ecosystem.

Still no release date for Xbox One

Now that the PS4 release date is already known, a lot of fans are turning to Microsoft as they eagerly wait for the release date to be announced.

For now, Microsoft has the upper hand in knowing when the competition will be rolling out their console champion, so either an earlier release or a better planned one would be the best move.

Earlier reports have shown that a November 8 release date was given by a close source, but a confirmation from Microsoft has not been heard from. This can mean that the November 8 peg was really just a placeholder, and nothing more.

The PS4 is slated for release on November 15 in the U.S. and November 29 in the U.K., so Microsoft knows pretty much when it needs the Xbox One's presence to be felt in retail stores.

Currently, delays have already been projected for eight of the 21 countries that are on Microsoft's target areas, and as such, this can also be a contributing factor as to why a definitive release date has not yet been announced. Further speculation would ask whether or not Microsoft is not yet announcing any release dates in the event of another unpredicted delay in the process. But it is best to wait for confirmation, and not get your hopes up for an early holiday release of the Xbox One.
