Sony has been touted as the champion of the indies, as it pushed its love and support for indie games and developers even at its first reveal of the PS4 back in February this year.

With Microsoft's conference of the Xbox One's restrictions for self-published indie games, Sony's stand became even more apparent, with indie developers themselves showering the console maker with praises.

But it seems that Microsoft might now allow indies to self-publish with no restrictions, reports VG 24/7. The only catch is that with this new trend, small-time indies would be able to compete with big-time indies--not outright referring to the big publishers responsible for AAA games.

In June, right after the E3, Microsoft has been reported to state that it will announce a system that would allow indie developers to publish their games for the Xbox One, but until now, the details of this plan have not yet been revealed.

It may be that this rumor is based on that particular setup, though what Microsoft had promised back then was an entirely new system to aid self-publishers--not necessarily allow them outright to publish without any restrictions.

Some are already speculating that Microsoft is simply following the footsteps of Sony--seeing that indie gaming, no DRM, and easy used game sharing have received praise from fans, it may be slowly rolling out new policies to accommodate such demands.

Ratchet & Clank finally announced

For two days, Sony has been teasing a project through its official Facebook page. The first image was supposedly an eclipse, which had gotten some speculating that this may pertain to the exact release date of the PS4, which is on November 3 as dated by the eclipse happening later this year.

Fans, on the other hand, have also started to talk about Ratchet & Clank due to the second image posted a day after.

Now, Sony has finally announced the return of Ratchet and Clank in a single-player epilogue taking off from the Future games, titled Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus.

According to PlayStation.com, the game will be made available for the PS3 this holiday season for $29.99. Perhaps this will come before the PS4's actual release date and shipping, just to get the gamers pumped and running on PlayStation high.

More details will be revealed in the coming months via Insomniac Games' Twitter, as promised by community lead James Stevenson.

The Dark Sorcerer to have new footage at GDC Europe

GDC Europe is going to have a lot going on, and PS4's The Dark Sorcerer just added to the mix.

Back in the E3, everyone saw the footage as a demo for the PS4, but this was clarified as another PS4 game.

"Before working on The Dark Sorcerer we thought, 'Ok, what else can we do with this tech? Should we do drama again, or should we try something different? And there [was] one emotion that very few people tried in the past, in real time 3D," said David Cage, writer and director for Quantic Dream said in an interview with PS4 Node.

"It's comedy. How can we make people smile--if not laugh--in front of this tech? Can we write something that can make you smile?"

With this premise at the E3 2013, Videogamer reports that there will be new footage to be revealed at the event. Cage will also be present to discuss the techniques that were used in the studio's other project, Beyond: Two Souls, also a PS4 exclusive.

What's intriguing about The Dark Sorcerer is if the studio will make good on its promise--to demonstrate comedy in real-time 3D. Stay tuned for more at the GDC Europe.
