‘Quantico’ Season 1 Finale Review: Priyanka Chopra’s Alex Parrish meets ‘Revenge’ actor (Spoilers)
Original air date: May 15, 2016 on ABC
“Quantico” Season 1 finale starring Priyanka Chopra aired May 15 on ABC, revealing for viewers the mastermind of the terror attacks since the pilot episode. An accomplice has been revealed too, but an arrest is not possible. Be warned, spoilers ahead. Meanwhile, “Revenge” fans are delighted to see Henry Czerny a.k.a. Conrad Grayson as a possible Season 2 regular.
Who is the real bomber a.k.a. the voice big bad?
Alex Parrish (Priyanka Chopra) enlightens the team that Quantico mentor Liam O’Connor (Josh Hopkins) is The Voice, even as the most recent set of evidence points to Miranda Shaw (Aunjanue Ellis). Liam gets sloppy just when he is about to complete his mission of terror, making it possible for Ryan Booth (Jake McLaughlin) to get seriously suspicious shortly before the scheduled explosion. Liam dies from Parrish’s gunshot wound to the head.
Simon Asher (Tate Ellington), decides he would go on a suicide mission to drive the bomb away and dive his car into the river, taking one for the team. Alex, Ryan, Shelby Wyatt (Johanna Brady), Caleb Haas (Graham Rogers), Nimah and Raina (Yasmine Al Massri) speak to Simon on the phone moments before his nuclear death. Simon dies in the name of great sacrifice.

Parrish connects the dots and realises Vice President Claire Haas (Marcia Cross) has been involved in Liam’s schemes all along. She has no proof, but she has Caleb on her side. Ms Haas practically admits she worked with Liam, but she is confident the FBI let alone Parrish has nothing on her.
Two months after Simon was buried, Walter Keyes of the CIA comes along. Henry Czerny plays the role well, giving Keyes the ominous ambiguity necessary for “Quantico” Season 2.
Keyes shows up to offer Parrish a CIA job, saying the FBI did a poor job at showing her respect. As this develops, Ryan is calling Alex on the phone, ready for a romantic getaway.
'Quantico' Season 1 Finale leaves a ‘love’ question hanging
“Quantico” Season 1 is 50 percent silly and 50 percent intriguing. It is the kind of chapter that started so well before losing its footing, but the audience has found a big question and many decided to stay on, despite jokes and weak story developments. Even the big bad villain is predictable, but the ride has not been entirely bad.
Priyanka Chopra is gorgeous, perhaps too gorgeous in her role, and at times her beauty distracts from the story. Perhaps it couldn’t be helped, but “Quantico” could push its other cast members by giving the characters a significant time to shine. It’s a shame Simon is dead; Tate Ellington is one of the better ones among the cast. Caleb’s reaction to hearing his mother make a virtual confession is emotionally lacking, but the moment itself could have been bigger.
In the end, the cliffhanger question is: “Will Alex sacrifice her lovelife for CIA?”
