Razer Hammerhead BT & iOS in-ear gaming headphones launch: Features, price and release details announced
Gaming company Razer has launched two new headsets: the Razer Hammerhead BT and the Razer Hammerhead for iOS Lightning. The new sets of gaming and music in-ear devices are now available to order and will ship before the end of April.
The new Razer Hammerhead BT promises to provide clear and cordless audio. It’s a Bluetooth 4.1 in-ear headset that equips Qualcomm’s aptX codec to deliver low latency and high quality audio. The Hammerhead BT offers mobile users continuous music playback and calls with a battery that lasts up to eight hours on a single charge. It comes with an in-line control in addition to a microphone and is compatible with both Android and iOS mobile devices, making it easy to pick up calls or navigate music playlists.
The Razer Hammerhead for iOS, meanwhile, takes full advantage of the Lightning Connector’s capabilities. It gives off crisp digital audio via a tailor-tweaked DAC (digital-to-analog converter). Apple mobile device users can personalise their musical immersion with customisable or pre-arranged equalizer settings by using the Razer Hammerhead iOS companion app. Just like Hammerhead BT, the iOS version likewise includes an in-line remote and mic, which can be used to control Siri on top of taking phone calls and skipping songs.
Razer’s new headsets are both equipped with custom-tuned 10 mm dynamic audio drivers, which should be larger than most same class in-ear headphones. Razer says that the aluminium acoustic chamber not only improves music reproduction, it also boosts durability.
“The Razer Hammerhead line of in-ear headphones and headsets are lauded for their big sound in a highly portable form factor,” declares Razer co-founder and CEO Min-Liang Tan. “We are excited to expand our Hammerhead audio experience with a Bluetooth wireless option for increased mobility and a Lightning Connector version for iOS device users.”
The Razer Hammerhead BT and Razer Hammerhead for iOS are now available to purchase on Razer’s official online store and its partner retailers. Each of the headsets carries a US$99.99 price tag in the US, AU$169.95 in Australia and €109.99 in Europe. Worldwide shipping begins late April.
