When it comes to three dimensional effects, the most common ones are found in forms of photos or videos. But what if suddenly the concept of Skype 3D can be tapped by everyone these days?

Microsoft's VP for Skype has told BBC that the famous chat system use for video calls is developing a new 3D format. The rumour was confirmed when there was a job opening for a hardware and software developer who can come up with a body-double effect during a remote online meeting.

However, Mr Gillett emphasised that the realisation of the product will still take years before it hits the market. He adds that 3D images are currently delivered in TVs and monitors of personal computers but not yet realised when it comes to capture devices.

"We're looking at the ecosystem of devices and their capacity to support in order to make a decision when we might think about bringing something like that to market," Mr Gillett said.

'Avatar' creator and director James Cameron said in an interview with BBC that there will come a time soon when all forms of entertainment will be in 3D form. In time, the award winning director said that 3D will become so normal, the special eye glasses won't be of need anymore.

Mr Gillett agrees with the claim but said that it could take a longer amount of time to see it become visible with 3D video chatting. The Microsoft executive believes that the 3D concept can be implemented faster on computers, TVs and smart phones, but not as fast as when it comes to the video calls.

On the other hand, the very first employee of Skype and ex-marketing director, Taavet Hinrikus, shared to BBC that Skype should start putting its focus into utilising the best tools for better communication, especially via mobile. According to Mr Hinrikus, this is the only way for the company to keep up with the rest of the leading ones today like Viber.
