Release of Samsung Galaxy S7 likely by January 2016
The Exynos 8890 chipset will power units for the UK and European markets
According to the latest rumours, the new Samsung Galaxy S7 with the powerful Exynos 8890 chipset will be launched early next year, but some sources claim a January unveil is more likely. The Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge and Galaxy S7 Edge+ will compete head-to-head against the Apple iPhone series.
Samsung finally decided to try something new this time to stem persistent profit declines over the last seven consecutive years. The company is betting the new Exynos 8890 will be the catalyst that will lift it out of its extended earnings slump, as reported by Christian Post.
It’s very possible the Galaxy S7 will be officially unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain in February 2016. The new handset is likely to share features similar to those of the S6 Edge and S6 Edge Plus on many counts. The Galaxy S7 boasts of a flat smart screen contoured with curved displays in two sizes: 5.2-inch and 5.7-inch.
Equipped with a 16 MP camera, the Galaxy S7 will not have a camera bulge in the rear like the Galaxy S6. Though the processor is yet to be finalized, talks are going on to use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC aimed for the Chinese and U.S. markets, while the Exynos 8890 chipset will power units for the UK and European markets.
Customers will have access to vast storage capacity ranging from 32 GB to 129 GB. The handset will run Android 6.0 Marshmallow. To stay ahead of competition, Samsung has plans to develop fresh designs for all three handsets expected to arrive in the first half of 2016, according to Value Walk.
Reports suggest that Samsung intends to revamp its curved screen style in its next release of the Galaxy S7 in order to keep with mainstream technology. Rumours abound this new phone will create enough oomph to boost Samsung’s profits.
