The Remix Ultra Tablet: Android Device To Rival Microsoft’s Surface Pro
The Remix Ultra Tablet is manufactured by Jide Technology, a start company which was founded by three former Google engineers. Reports say that the engineers left the search giant to build a startup that would develop a mobile device solution which can provide productivity and entertainment.
Android Authority reports that the three former Googlers who created the newly launched tablet are Jeremy Zhou, David Ko, and Ben Luk. The start-up is also composed of other former employees of Sony, Baidu, Amazon, and Microsoft. The trio believe that tablets are great at media consumption and mobility but painful at content creation that is why why they came up with the ultra tablet and chose the 2015 tech show to stage its launch.
The body of the Remix is built with a combination of plastic and metal that makes the device feel premium when held. It has stereo speakers, a headphone jack, microUSB port with an included OTG adaptor for a full-sized USB port.
The tablet has an 11.6-inch 1080p IPS display and is powered by Nvidia Tegra 4+1 processor, though still not confirmed if it will be Tegra 3 or 4. It is equipped with 2GB of RAM and a microSD card slot that allows you to add up 128GB of additional storage along side its built-in 64GB or 16GB of flash storage.
In addition, the Remix Ultra Tablet is currently running a customized version of Android 4.4.2 called Remix OS, but report says that it might eventually get the Lollipop upgrade. The Remix OS includes productivity apps and the regular functions found in a laptop or PC. The tablet also comes with 5 megapixel front and back cameras and duo mics. It also features Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, and is packed with an impressive 8100 mAh battery.
Finally, the Remix Ultra is currently in its production phase. Techno Buffalo reports that the tablet will be first released in China. The 16GB model will be available for $349 while the 64GB model will cost $449. However, Jide Technology has not revealed its launch date but has confirmed that the ultra tablet will eventually hit the U.S. And U.K. market in the second or third quarter of 2015.
